Hilde_Schwab As of today, 26 Social Entrepreneurs and 2,500 world leaders are part of an effort to create “Shared Norms for the New Reality”, the theme of this year’s World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.

Countless meetings, panel discussions, IdeasLabs and WorkSpace sessions will take place during the Annual Meeting, and I am sure that the Social Entrepreneurs assembled here will have a lasting positive impact on world leaders.

On the other hand, I am appalled that, despite the tremendous and invaluable contribution Social Entrepreneurs have made to the world, organizations in the microfinance field are under attack in certain countries. Professor Muhammad Yunus, our Foundation Board Member and Social Entrepreneur of the first hour, cannot be with us. He is unable to leave his country, as an investigation is taking place precisely at the time of our Annual Meeting.

We are looking forward to an exciting week with a lot of interaction, where social entrepreneurship is fully recognized and where Social Entrepreneurs will be a true inspiration for other participants.
