United States

The World Economic Forum has announced its selection of Global Growth Companies (GGCs) in the United States, consisting of 12 of the country’s most dynamic and high-growth companies.

GGCs are fast-growing companies with the clear potential to become global economic leaders.

They play an important role in the transformation of markets and industries by creating new opportunities or tackling existing inefficiencies.

The 12 nominated GGCs represent a broad cross section of industrial sectors but share in common a track record in exceeding industry standards in growth, innovative business practices and leadership.

The selected companies are:

2U, a leading provider of cloud-based solutions used to deliver online degrees, enabling leading colleges and universities to offer high quality education to students anywhere.

Box, which pioneered a secure cloud-based content collaboration platform – specifically designed for businesses – that is changing how companies access information quickly and easily.

Care.com, the largest online marketplace to help people around the world find and manage family care, currently counting over 11.8 million members across 16 countries.

Chobani, a food start-up which – since launching in 2007 – has grown into a $1 billion business, and has transformed the yoghurt market in the United States.

FireEye, a leader in cyber security and malware protection, which has pioneered a new way to thwart cyber-attacks now adopted by many enterprises as well as government agencies.

Fuhu, which designs high-end technology products and digital experiences for children, redefining how kids learn, play and develop through technology.

HUSCO International, a developer and manufacturer of hydraulic components used in automotive equipment, which increase fuel efficiency, reduce emissions and improve vehicle performance.

Intuitive Surgical, a trailblazer in designing and manufacturing robotic surgical systems, bringing minimally invasive surgery to more than two million patients worldwide.

IPG Photonics, a leading provider of high power fiber lasers that are revolutionising performance in materials processing, micromachining, telecommunications, medical and other applications.

Keurig Green Mountain, a market leader in specialty coffee, known for its award-winning beverages as well as for its strong commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Lynda.com, an online education company that helps anyone learn business, technology and creative skills by offering engaging, top-quality courses taught by recognized industry experts.

Opower, the market leader in software for the utility industry, helping people to understand how they can reduce energy consumption by combining cloud platforms, big data and behavioural science.

They will be recognized during the World Economic Forum Industry Strategy Meeting in New York City on 21-22 October 2014. Together with the Social Entrepreneurs, Technology Pioneers, Young Global Leaders, Global Shapers and Young Scientists, the GGCs make up the New Champions, a World Economic Forum community of pioneers, disruptors and innovators.
