These are the most endangered jobs in 2015

Mail delivery has been named 2015’s most threatened job, with postal services expected to lose 28% of their workforce by 2022, according to CareerCast’s JobsRated 2015 report.

The study, now in its 27th year, has ranked the expected growth of 200 jobs. The chart below shows the top 10 jobs with the highest negative projected growth outlooks (as a percentage).

In joint second we see meter readers and farmers, with a projected decline of 19%. Other jobs featured on the list include jewellers, insurance underwriters and newspaper reporters.

The report argues that the declines in mail delivery, farming and meter readers can all be attributed to technological advances. Communication technology has reduced the volume of mail, and the need for delivery services. Utility usage is increasingly tracked digitally, while technology has significantly reduced the workload in farming.
