Which are the most business-friendly economies?

The new release of the World Bank’s Doing Business report has named Singapore as the economy where it is easiest to conduct business.

The 2016 report assesses economies on 10 topics – including accessing electricity, paying taxes and trading across borders – each consisting of several indicators. A high score indicates that the regulatory environment is conducive to starting up and running a local firm.

Following Singapore in second place is New Zealand, which scores highly across many of the categories, including registering property and protecting minority investors. Denmark completes the top three, with strong scores for dealing with construction permits and trading across borders.

There is a global spread to the top 10, with three Asian economies, five European countries and the USA all featuring.
