Anne-Birgitte Albrectsen

Anne-Birgitte Albrectsen joined the LEGO Foundation as CEO in September 2021.
The LEGO Foundation is dedicated to influencing parents, teachers and policy makers to adopt learning through play as the most powerful means for children to acquire the broad suite of skills needed to thrive in today’s world – and to provide the evidence and advocacy to support it.
Mrs Albrectsen has spent almost 30 years in fields of international development, human rights and diplomacy, most recently holding the position of Global CEO at Plan International since September 2015
At Plan International, an NGO dedicated to advancing children’s rights and equality for girls, Mrs. Albrectsen helped transform the organization by working together with children, young people, supporters and partners to deliver positive impact.

Prior to Plan International, Anne-Birgitte was United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Deputy Executive Director for Management at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

She is Advisory Council Member for Global Institute for Women’s Leadership. Anne-Birgitte is Danish and holds a law degree from the University of Copenhagen.
