Barry Dwolatzky

Professor of Software Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand

After spending the 1970's at Wits completing a BSc(Eng) in Electrical Engineering and a PhD, I left South Africa to live in Britain. Between 1980 and 1989 I lived in Manchester and London working at UMIST, Imperial College and at the GEC-Marconi Research Centre in Chelmsford. I returned to Wits in 1989.

I'm now Professor of Software Engineering in the School of Electrical & Information Engineering and Director of the Joburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE). I established the JCSE in 2005 with the goal of supporting the growth and success of the South African ICT Sector. Since 2013 I've been driving an initiative to establish the Tshimologong Precinct, a Digital Technology Innovation Zone in Juta Street Braamfontein.
