Managing Director, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ)

Karan Adani is the Managing Director of Adani Ports and SEZ Limited (APSEZ), part of the Adani Group, India’s fastest-growing infrastructure conglomerate with 10 listed companies and a total market capitalization of ~$132 Bn.
Karan began his foray into the group at Mundra Port - the flagship port of APSEZ in Gujarat, in 2009 to gain expertise in core operations. Since then, he has rapidly expanded the portfolio from 2 ports in 2009 to 9 when he took over as CEO in 2016, further adding 5 in India and 2 overseas in recent years. In 2024, he became the Managing Director of APSEZ.
Following a series of strategic expansions & partnerships, APSEZ India’s fastest growing private sector Port developer and operator with a pan-India logistics reach. Along with its subsidiary, Adani Logistics Ltd., it is also the largest private and most diversified rail operator in India. Owing to his global perspective, Karan now aims to augment the company’s identity around an integrated business model that includes port operations, logistics and SEZ development. This combination is rapidly transforming the company into a Transport
Utility – a reliable service partner, providing end-to-end logistics solutions, and simplifying the supply chain for its customers.
With Karan at the helm, APSEZ is all set to become a globally competitive player setting a benchmark for excellence in port operations. This is largely steered by his drive to learn, to adapt and work alongside his team to develop progressive ways of doing business.
An economics graduate from Purdue University, USA, Karan is a technologically savvy, soft spoken and modern leader who is an active proponent of environmental safety and comprehensive development of the world he affects. There is continuous engagement
with local communities at each site, focusing on education, healthcare & preserving the environment, with a sole purpose of
transforming lives, creating opportunities for employment and a sustainable livelihood.
