Marcus has nearly three decades of experience running and working with the world's leading global organizations (for-profit & non-profit), heads of state governments, and prominent startups focused on innovation, specifically related to new business models, organizational and cultural evolution, digital transformation, and data & analytics.

Marcus has developed and led several programs tailored for cross-functional executive teams to understand, prepare, and capitalize on emerging technologies, including AI, robotics, 3D printing, biotech, nanotech, blockchain, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

Marcus Shingles was recently an executive at Bain & Co as a leader in the innovation practice. Marcus recently served as the CEO of the XPRIZE Foundation, a non-profit and the global leader in prize and crowdsourcing models for innovation and technology breakthroughs used to solve humanity's grandest challenges. Previously in his career, he also served as a Partner (Executive) at Deloitte Consulting LLP, where he led the organization's technology and innovation practice. As an entrepreneur, Marcus leads and advises several startups, and Marcus also founded and led his own business and IT strategy consulting firm serving Fortune 500 firms. He also was part of the senior consulting management team at Ernst & Young LLP. Marcus started his career at the Kellogg Company, where he led digital transformation for sales and marketing and global IT.

Marcus co-hosted the United Nations "AI for Good" summit in Geneva, Switzerland, and personally worked with the President of the United Nations in 2017 to hold the first "SDG Action Event on Innovation" at the UN HQ in NYC for all member states.

Marcus holds degrees in marketing and international business, as well as executive education at Singularity University, located at NASA Ames in Silicon Valley, California, where he was also a speaker and adjunct faculty "expert". He is currently a board member of the Stanford University School of Engineering's "Disruptive Technology & Digital Cities" Program, and a Board member on the leading Virtual Reality non-profit organization, the Virtual World Society. He also serves on the board and/or is an advisor to several global non-profits focused on education for low income and underserved communities, including Recode/Center for Digital inclusion (Brazil) and The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) where he is working with their leadership teams to transform education incorporating virtual/augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and spatial web technologies.

Marcus is the founder and current Executive Director of a non-profit - Exponential Destiny (www.ExponentialDestiny.com - focused on training for youths from underserved communities to help re-skill as modern-day “startup” entrepreneurs. This volunteer organization originated from an initiative Marcus championed while “adopting” a South Central Los Angeles public high school to establish a new curriculum to teach “exponential entrepreneurship” in 2015 that is still running today http://laschoolreport.com/pilot-program-at-nava-prep-robotics-drones-and-entrepreneurship/, and from this program he has teamed up with the youth from this high school - who are now graduated - to found a non-profit organization that mentors, res-kills/up-skills, and then professionally employs individuals from marginalized communities in emerging fields of virtual reality and the Metaverse (a.k.a. Web 3.0 / Spatial Web) and innovation/digital transformation. In 2021 Marcus and his team at Exponential Destiny worked with the 6th largest school district in the U.S. to design, develop, and deploy a transformative education pedagogy using Virtual Reality, thus pioneering a new "immersive and experiential learning" capability.

Marcus is currently an Executive advising Multicore International, where he is responsible for the development of a "Digital City / Future Community" currently being developed on over 7,000 acres in northern Thailand in conjunction with the development of a new international airport.

Marcus's expertise in innovation and technology has been featured on leading broadcasts and publications, including NBC’s The Today Show, CNBC's Squawk Box, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, Forbes, and Wired magazine.

Marcus grew up in the midwest (southeast Michigan, Chicago), and now splits his time between Los Angeles and his home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He has a daughter and son, both out of college, and now exploring life.
