Seth is an Air Quality Associate at WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, where he helps cities around the globe think through sustainable solutions that keep their airsheds clean. Air pollution is now the #1 environmental health risk in the world, and WRI is taking a lead role in shifting the global conversation away from talking about how bad the air is, to what is actually causing the bad air. And what actions cities can take to address this crisis. The air quality program at WRI Ross Center will build the much needed “science-society” bridge for cities to shape the politcal demand for clean air into targeted and cost-effective solutions.

Prior to joining WRI, Seth worked for a diverse number of organizations, including the Port of Long Beach, two US Metropoltian Planning Agencies and the Natural Resources Defense Council in Santa Monica, CA. He got his start with WRI in 2014 in the Mexico City office, and is now based at the WRI global office in Washington, DC.

Seth’s educational background includes a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cal State Poly Pomona, a Master’s from UC Berkeley, and a PhD in Urban Transport Systems from UC Irvine. His dissertation centered around the creation of an enhanced modelling methodology for calculating air quality conditions near roadways in Southern California, and the associated population exposure health impacts.

Along with having previously performed at the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C., Seth danced professionally in Mexico City in 2014 with the Ballet Folklórico de México at the historic Palacio de Bellas Artes theatre.
