Food Action Alliance

The Food Action Alliance is a leading multi-stakeholder platform for scaling food systems innovation and impact, by mobilizing collective action, partnerships, and investments in leading national food systems strategies and flagship initiatives that demonstrate the best of what is possible in food systems transformation.

Food is essential for our survival - but food systems are complex and currently unsustainable for both people and planet.

With ~828 million people suffering from hunger, and food production being a huge contributor to climate change and biodiversity loss, there is an urgent need to transform prevailing food systems.

Food system transformation is among the most powerful ways to make progress on multiple SDGs - but the high level of systemic interdependency means that rebuilding food systems requires an unprecedented degree of cooperation.

About the Food Action Alliance

Established in 2019, the Food Action Alliance is a ‘platform of platforms’ bringing together an unparalleled global network of public-, private- sector and non-state actors and existing initiatives and platforms to mobilize and coordinate collective investment and action to deliver on national food systems strategies and support a transition to improved food systems.

The Food Action Alliance Steering Committee has endorsed a three-year strategy

This strategy has been developed by the Secretariat through a series of consultations with partners and a strategy working group. The strategy includes ambitious targets that will require collaboration of its full network of partners to achieve.
