The Climate Breakthroughs online event will explore what truly transformational change looks like within specific sectors of the global economy, the role of radical collaboration in delivering such change and the lessons that can be learned from best practices already in action. It will bring together eminent leaders from government, business, and civil society to mobilize additional Race to Zero Breakthroughs across industries, including the hard-to-abate sectors, and advance natural climate solutions.
To win the race to zero emissions by 2050 at the very latest, the world must achieve near-term breakthroughs in every sector of the global economy.
Climate Breakthroughs: On the Road to COP26 and Beyond form part of a series of online events that the World Economic Forum, the Mission Possible Partnership, the UK COP26 Presidency and the UN High-Level Champions together with the Friends of Ocean Action and the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean, will be hosting from 25-27 May 2021. These meetings seek to advance critical ocean issues, while mobilizing progress towards the required sector breakthroughs to realize a 45% reduction in annual emissions by 2030 and net-zero global emissions before 2050.
