Overview

This second edition of the Virtual Ocean Dialogues, 25-26 May 2021, will foster inclusive, constructive and practical dialogue on the global ocean action agenda. The online event provides an opportunity to connect communities across the world who are seeking solutions and taking bold action for a healthy, resilient, thriving ocean, bringing about much needed opportunities for positive change.

The Virtual Ocean Dialogues will focus on the critical importance of mainstreaming the ocean in critical multilateral international environment-focused forums and summits, from climate and biodiversity to food and science. They will provide a space for advancing action ahead of a range of key international moments for the environment over the coming year.

Virtual Ocean Dialogues 2021 form part of a series of online events that the World Economic Forum, Friends of Ocean Action and the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean, together with the Mission Possible Partnership, the UK COP26 Presidency and the UN High-Level Champions for COP26, are hosting from 25-27 May 2021. These meetings seek to advance critical ocean issues, while mobilizing progress towards the required sector breakthroughs to realize a 45% reduction in annual emissions by 2030 and net-zero global emissions before 2050.
