A Long-Term Strategy for Climate, Nature and Energy

First Movers Coalition for Food

Speakers: Ramon Laguarta, Steve Sedgwick, Axton Salim, Gilberto Tomazoni, Megan Scarsella

Food systems are responsible for 30% of greenhouse gas emissions yet receive less than 4% of climate financing. Notably, more investment is needed to scale the production of low-carbon, nature-positive food commodities, such as beef cattle, dairy, rice, row crops, soy and palm oil.

How can we harness the purchasing power of world’s leading companies and governments to accelerate more sustainable production methods?

This session is directly linked to the launch of the First Movers Coalition for Food by the World Economic Forum Centre for Nature and Climate.

Centre for Nature and Climate

The Centre for Nature and Climate fosters a holistic approach to addressing the climate emergency, focusing on industry decarbonization, nature-positive systems, and resource stewardship. It works with the CEO Climate Leaders, the First Movers Coalition, and the Champions for Nature community to achieve net-zero emissions, protect and restore natural ecosystems, and promote sustainable practices.
