Restoring Ocean Life

Protecting and maintaining the health of marine ecosystems is vital to sustaining life on Earth. To achieve this will require going beyond environmental issues to examine the socioeconomic and institutional context and implications. It will also need more and better finance; publicly accessible data coupled with greater ability to use it; and increased alignment on how to protect our global commons – while providing equitable and sustainable access to its resources. Restoring ocean life is not only essential to marine ecosystems but vital in the transition towards more sustainable and resilient societies. How can we ensure an integrated approach, recognizing that the challenges facing the ocean – and their solutions – are all interrelated?

In this context, it's crucial for businesses, governments, and civil society to work together to find common solutions and take decisive action. Through its Centres, the World Economic Forum integrates public-private efforts to achieve greater impact.
