Davos AM23 - The Electric Decade - English
Electrification of the global economy is essential in our bid to reach the net zero goal. The 2020s have to be the electric decade. Globally, by 2030, clean power capacity must increase by three times what it is today. Energy consumption, too, must become increasingly based on electricity, from the current 20% share to 50% or more by 2050.
From infrastructure to industry consumption transformation, what levers are needed to accelerate this transition to electrification using clean power?
This session is directly linked to the ongoing Clean Power and Electrification Initiative of the World Economic Forum.
This Davos 2023 session is moderated by Meghan O'Sullivan, Professor at Harvard University and the key speakers include Vivianne Heijnen, Environment Minister, Netherlands; Henrik Andersen, CEO, Vestas Wind Systems A/S; Jakob Stausholm, CEO, Rio Tinto Plc; Andrés Gluski, CEO, AES Corporation; Kristen Panerali, Head, Clean Power and Electrification, World Economic Forum and JB Pritzker, Governor of Illinois, United States.
