It employed 65,822 people, including contractors, in 2012 and produced 3.94 million ounces of gold, generating $6.4 billion in gold income, excluding joint ventures. Capital expenditure in 2012 amounted to $1.9 billion. As at 31 December 2012, it had an attributable ore reserve of 74.1 million ounces and an attributable mineral resource of 241.5 million ounces.
