General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA)

The General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA) is the pension fund for Qatari citizens. As of 31 December 2021, the scheme managed $31 billion, most of which is invested in Qatari listed and unlisted companies, as well as bonds and sukuks. The country’s insurance law was amended in 2023 to include an accommodation allowance and increase the contribution rates from 15% to 21%. Of that amount, 14% is contributed by the employer (both private and public sectors) and 7% by the employee.
