Hanwha: Why The Transition to Clean Energy is Essential to Achieving Energy Security

Stable access to energy is crucial to supporting humans' basic needs, but growing energy demand and supply concerns have made energy security a pressing global issue. This issue has been most recently demonstrated through the energy crisis in Europe.

Energy security and climate change are two significant factors driving clean energy investment. The renewable energy transition is essential to supporting energy security, which is why Hanwha aims to lead the global green energy transition.

Governments can invest in domestic wind and solar to achieve long-term, uninterrupted energy availability instead of relying on foreign energy sources. Hanwha’s expansion of its European presence, first through Qcells and now through Q ENERGY, continues to help European countries build up their solar and wind capacity. Within the U.S., Hanwha has remained the market leader in the U.S. residential and commercial solar module markets by offering solutions across the solar supply chain.

Hydrogen has the potential to be a powerful alternative to fossil fuels and help facilitate the clean energy transition. Hanwha is implementing "hydrogen to gas turbine" (H2GT) technology with projects in Rotterdam, Netherlands and New Jersey, U.S., where Hanwha Impact has retrofitted existing gas turbines to run on up to 65% hydrogen fuel by volume.

Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are essential for storing and regulating the intermittent nature of renewable energy. This year, Hanwha is expanding its global large-scale ESS project portfolio with projects in Texas, U.S. and Ireland. In addition, Hanwha Qcells and Samsung Electronics are developing an integrated home heating system to counteract the record high-heating costs expected to hit European households this winter.

As energy demand increases, so does the demand for clean energy security solutions. By investing in a spectrum of clean energy sources, Hanwha offers worldwide energy solutions to help people meet their basic needs, even in uncertain times.
