Coursera rises to Africa's joblessness challenge

Up to one third of Africans may become jobless in 2020 while there is already 70-80% vulnerable employment in the informal sector. To reskill and mitigate the negative impact of the COVID-19 crisis, members of the Africa Growth Platform have come together with Coursera’s Workforce Recovery Initiative.

The programme offers free access to a catalogue of courses aimed at those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Government organizations can sign up to provide unemployed workers with access to more than 3,800+ courses and 400 specializations from Coursera’s university and industry partners.

Citi brings first female chief exec to Wall Street

Citi is the first major Wall Street bank to appoint a female chief executive. Jane Fraser will succeed Mike Corbat in February 2021.

Amazon joins UPS and Google in a race for the skies

Amazon has become the third company, after Google and UPS, to gain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification, enabling expanded use of their autonomous air delivery system to connect rural populations for improved delivery times. Credit Suisse oceans fund

Credit Suisse is launching a new sustainability fund aimed at improving the health of the planet's oceans. Part of a new partnership with Rockefeller Asset Management, the fund forms part of Credit Suisse's strategy to mobilize capital and finance projects that drive progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This latest initiative, the Credit Suisse Rockefeller Ocean Engagement Fund, aims to support SDG14, which covers 'Life Under Water'.
