Ahmad Al Khowaiter

Executive Vice-President, Technology and Innovation, Aramco

Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter was appointed Execuve Vice President of Technology & Innovaon, eeive April 1,
2023.
Prior to this role he served as senior vice president and chief technology oicer for Aramco, a role he
undetook in May 2015.
Al-Khowaiter joined the company in 1984 and completed a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from King
Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1988. His rst assignment was as an engineer with Southern
Area Oil Operaons, where he worked on the commissioning of the ‘Uthmaniyah gas-oil separaon plants.
Aer earning an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Al-Khowaiter joined
the Process & Control Systems Depatment in July 1996.
Aer joining the Hawiyah Gas Plant Proje as a proje engineer in 1997, he became a senior proje
engineer in 1999. In 2000, Al-Khowaiter was given a division-level leadership role and led the commissioning
of the Hawiyah Gas Plant.

In 2002, he was transferred to the Haradh Gas Plant during the construion and commissioning phase and
served as superintendent of Gas Plant Operaons.
Between 2004 and 2005, he attended the Massachusetts Instute of Technology’s Sloan Fellowship
Program, earning an M.S. degree in Business Administraon.
In July 2005, Al-Khowaiter was named manager, Facilies Planning, and in 2006, he led the development of
the master plan for the King Abdullah University of Science & Technology. In 2007, he was seconded to the
university, where he served as interim Provost, then named interim vice president for Economic
Development.
Al-Khowaiter returned to Aramco in November 2009 and became direor of New Business Evaluaon,
before being elevated to chief engineer from August 2011-2014. In 2014 he was appointed Execuve
Direor of Power Systems.
Al-Khowaiter is currently a member of the Board of Direors of SATORP (Saudi Aramco Total Rening
Petrochemical Co.), SADCO (Saudi Aramco Development Co.), the King Abdulaziz City of Science &
Technology (KACST), and NEOM Energy and Water Company.
