Over 25 years' experience with labour and pro-democracy movement; 2013, elected as the General Secretary of Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI). The BWI is the global union federation grouping free and democratic unions with members in the building, building materials, wood, forestry and allied sectors. Born in the Philippines. Has advocated for and represented sectors such as peasants, informal labourers, urban poor, fisher folks and indigenous people, and lobbied for the social reform agenda and creation of the National Anti-Poverty People's Council in 1995.
