Former executive director at Science Gallery International, the world’s only university network dedicated to public engagement with science and art. Having championed the use of internet as a collaborative educational platform in schools and museums in the early 1990s, worked on the development of both the NEMO science centre in Amsterdam and the Miami Museum of Science; former Partner, NISE, the Nanoscale Informal Science Education network, working with the Exploratorium in San Francisco. Consultant for the National Research Foundation in South Africa. Member of the Board, Deutsches Museum, Munich, Germany, of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Basic Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen, and of Universcience, Paris. Has led, managed and evaluated several international projects linked with science, art, democracy and public participation. Has written widely on public engagement with science.
