With Royal Dutch Shell: 1984-2000, engineering and project management roles, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Italy, Brunei and Oman; 2000, Senior Adviser for the Middle East and former Soviet Union to the Vice-Chairman; 2001, Private Assistant to the Chairman; 2002-12, led the successful delivery of the US$ 18 billion pioneering Pearl Gas to Liquids project as Managing Director and Country Chairman; 2009, concurrently, Executive Vice-President, Qatar, responsible for all of Shell's upstream business in Qatar, including the Qatargas 4 project; Executive Committee member of Shell from 2012-19, leaving as the Upstream Director. In 2020, was Vice Chairman of SBM and Senior Adviser to McKinsey before being appointed as CEO Galp in 2021. Recipient, OBE (2012) for services to British-Qatari business relations.
