Anis Kallel is the Co-Founder and CTO of Flouci (By Kaoun), a Fintech startup based in Tunisia working on revolutionizing digital banking in Francophone Africa by building identification, payments, and credit solutions tailored to the unbanked and underbanked. Flouci is a financial superapp that allows individuals and businesses to create a free bank account and a mobile wallet via smartphone, while accessing a range of financial and governmental services. In a region where 60% of the population remains underserved by traditional banking, and less than 1% of merchants accept digital payments, Flouci addresses a critical need inspired by the potential of technology to reduce barriers to entry for the underbanked and underserved. Flouci created the first card delivered to a person at their home in Tunisia, which makes banking more accessible for people living in places where bank branches are far or nonexistent. Under Anis’ leadership, Flouci has grown to over 60,000 active users and secured more than $2 million in funding. Through participating in the Google and Visa accelerator programs for Africa, Flouci has been able to deploy infrastructure layers to provide quality financial services to its clients.
As a major fintech entrepreneur in Tunisia, Anis became a reference advising on various regulations in the banking sector, as well as developing technologies with different national agencies and ministries. Alongside his work in fintech and technological innovation, Anis creates educational content through Kafteji News, a digital series exploring technology, economics, and developments across the African continent, sharing practical insights with his audience.
