António Nunes is the CEO of Angola Cables, a position he has held since the company was established in 2009.
An electrical engineer by profession, Nunes has over 15 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry.
Nunes studied at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany and previously worked for UNITEL, the largest mobile phone operator in Angola.
During his tenure with UNITEL he coordinated the 2G and 3G network development (microwave and fibre optics), as well as the associated infrastructure and deployment of value-added services.
As CEO of Angola Cables, Nunes has been responsible for positioning the company as leading player in the international telecom wholesale market and to be one of the world's telecommunications hubs.

Under his leadership the company has has become one of key players in the development of the Internet in Africa implementing an internet exchange point to Angola and a state-of-the-art submarine fibre optic cables route from Africa to the World.

The West Africa Cable System (WACS), a joint-venture submarine cable system developed by Angola Cables connecting 15 countries from South Africa to London.
‘Monet’ cable system (since 2017), connecting North and South America, Santos, in São Paulo to Fortaleza, Brazil to Miami in the United States.
The South Atlantic Cable System - SACS (since 2018) the first operating submarine cable in the southern hemisphere and the most efficient routing connecting Africa (Angola) to South America (Brazil).
