Degree from Istanbul University’s Business Department; Master’s degree, New York Pace University’s Lubin School of Business; PhD in Banking and Finance. Has undertaken various initiatives in different branches of activity such as economics, energy and finance. Formerly, wrote a column for Turkish daily newspaper Sabah and taught banking and finance at Marmara University. Elected as Member of Parliament for the 25th, 26th and 27th legislative sessions. Served as Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the 64th, 65th and 66th Government of the Republic of Turkey. Minister of Finance of the 67th Government; prepared “The National Energy and Mine Strategy Paper” outlining Turkey’s medium- and long-term energy policies. Many pioneering energy projects were conducted under these terms, such as putting Turkey’s first FSRU into service, opening tenders for 1,000 MW of wind and solar for domestic manufacturing and R&D, inaugurating Turkey’s first drilling vessel, and achieving 1 million metres of land drilling.
