1990, began career as Assistant Executive Secretary, Westnederland, a district transport company; then Traffic and Transport Adviser, The Hague Municipal Executive. Went on to hold various posts, including Human Resources Manager, HTM, the city’s public transport company. 2000, joined the Municipal Executive of The Hague as Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Holder for Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning. 2006, appointed State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science; then held successive appointments as Acting Mayor of Leidschendam-Voorburg and as Special Envoy for Randstad issues, Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. 2008, returned to the private sector as Member of the Executive Board, transport company ConnexxioN. 2012, Chairman of the Executive Board, Employee Insurance Agency (UWV). October 2017, appointed Minister for Medical Affaires till March 19th 2020
