Carla is a specialist in economic development, climate, and sustainability with her experience spanning more than 20 countries and demonstrating a keen understanding of the UN system and major climate donors.
For the past 7 years, Carla has played a pivotal role at UNDP, serving as both a program manager and senior consultant, focusing on the intersection of energy, climate, and economic development in Latin America, Africa, Southern Europe, and Southeast Asia. Recently, she joined the UNDP Global Centre in Singapore as Climate and Sustainability Specialist. In 2023, her insights took her to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where she discussed coastal livelihoods and blue carbon projects, gaining recognition in Times and Forbes.
Carla also contributed to the Rockefeller Foundation's Climate and Power team. She worked for the Climate and Power Portfolio and the new investments of the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, which constitute the largest climate investment in the foundation's history at 10 billion dollars.
Academically, Carla was a Fulbright scholar and served as a graduate assistant in climate and energy, as well as a Latin American and Public Policy Fellow, at the University of Pittsburgh, USA. There, she earned her master's degree in International Development with a specialization in Energy and Environment. Additionally, Carla holds an MBA from the University of la Rioja in Spain and is a member of Georgetown University's Competitiveness Leadership Program.
