Carolien de Bruin runs Strategic Initiatives at the World Economic's Schwab Foundation and is the founder of C-Change, an Amsterdam based facilitator of large-scale partnerships in sustainability. She is a frequent speaker on the topic of building firms and markets that are ‘fit for purpose’ and maximizing cross-sectoral contributions to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and is currently spending all her time working inside the Forum. In recognition of the immediate need for support among social entrepreneurs due to COVID-19, she has co-initiated the launch of a Response Alliance for Social Entrepreneurs at the Forum.
Prior to C-Change, Carolien led Monitor Deloitte’s global impact investing activities, working with clients such as B Lab, Calvert Foundation, the GIIN, and the World Economic Forum. Before becoming a social entrepreneur, Carolien held an interim role as COO at the Bertha Centre in Cape Town, Africa’s leading hub for social innovation and entrepreneurship. She is part of the Supervisory Board of asset manager Arvella, the OECDs Impact Measurement Expert Group and is co-founder of WomenLed 2030 - an early stage network for leading women in development. Carolien has contributed to publications such as Acumen’s and Monitor’s report From Blueprint to Scale. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and an MSc in Finance from Groningen University in The Netherlands, where she was named Alumna of the Year in 2018.
