Actor: Recipient of two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes. Distinctions include the British Film Institute Fellowship and the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Letters. Patron of the Sydney Film Festival, and an ambassador for the Australian film industry, holding Honorary Doctorates of Letters from the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. Previously worked as Director, Sydney Theatre Company, along with husband Andrew Upton.

Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Missions to Jordan and Lebanon, alongside advocacy work in the US, Australia and the UK. Speaker/panel participant on the global refugee crisis at Google Zeitgeist and Women in the World. Performer and producer of “What They Took With Them”, a filmed reading of the poem by Jennifer Toksvig, made in partnership Facebook.
