President, Echoing Green

For more than 20 years, has been at the forefront of catalysing the social entrepreneurship movement. President of Echoing Green, one of the key organizations funding, incubating and nurturing social entrepreneurship. Regular speaker at key conferences and contributor to important publications such as the Stanford Social Innovation Review and Harvard Business Review. Has demonstrated consistent commitment to public service, including speaking before the US House Committee on Education and Labour at a hearing examining how to renew America through national service and volunteerism. Prior to leading Echoing Green, was a social entrepreneur and received an Echoing Green Fellowship in 1992. Has served in two presidential administrations, including as Vice-Chair for the US President’s Commission on White House Fellowships (2009-2016). Serves on several boards, including the SEED Foundation, The Bridgespan Group, and, previously, the Harvard Board of Overseers. Holds a Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School, an MPA from the Kennedy School and a BA from Harvard College. Has won numerous awards for work, including the Robert Kennedy Distinguished Public Service Award.
