Chiugo is a developmental economist, with extensive leadership experience in multinational and developmental organizations. She has extensive expertise working in Anglophone and Francophone West Africa, particularly on beneficial ownership, contract transparency in the extractives sector and other anti-corruption initiatives. She has a proven track record of research and analytical skills in the extractives, political science, and energy policy development field.
Chiugo works at the EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) in Oslo, Norway and leads implementation in Francophone Africa. Prior to joining the EITI Secretariat, Chiugo worked as a translator in the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja, Nigeria and as a financial reporter on community financing. She also has experience with AREVA, where she worked on the French – Chinese nuclear relationship and worked as a consultant with CEA Consultancy and Translation Services.
Chiugo holds a master’s in international Energy from Sciences Po and a joint B.A. from Sciences Po and Renmin University of China. Her interests include gender mainstreaming for inclusive sustainable development and Chinese investment in Africa’s energy sector. She is fluent in English, French and Chinese.
