Christopher Ludwig Eisgruber is the 20th president of Princeton University, he assumed office in July 2013 after serving as the university’s provost for nine years. Prior to Princeton he taught at New York University’s school of Law. He is a distinguished constitutional scholar and holds a J.D. from University of Chicago. Throughout his tenure as president, Eisgruber has been dedicated to enhancing socioeconomic diversity in higher education. He has published several books and numerous articles on constitutional issues and testified multiple times before legislative bodies on the issue of religious freedom. In 2014, Eisgruber was elected to membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Edinburgh in 2015 and was elected an honorary fellow of University College, Oxford, in 2017. He is a steering committee member for the American Talent Initiative and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of American Universities. In the past, he served as a director or trustee for Liulishuo (2018-2020), ITHAKA (2014-2019), and the Educational Testing Service (2010-2013).
