Debra McCoy is a Partner at Bain & Company where she is Global Lead for Capital Markets, Sustainability, & ESG. She most recently spent six years as a Managing Director at BlackRock, where she was Head of Sustainable Investing for an active investing (quantitative) team. Previously, Debra held roles at Stanford’s endowment where her focus was private equity, Citigroup, in institutional and consumer banking as well as in the Offices of the CEO and President & COO, Stanford University as a Director of the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies, and Bain – where she started her career. In addition, Debra received a non-partisan appointment from the President of the United States to serve for one year as a White House Fellow at the U.S. Department of State. Over the course of her career, she has lived in Bangkok, Delhi, Dubai, Johannesburg, New York, Singapore, Washington D.C., and San Francisco where she currently resides.
Debra graduated from Howard University, summa cum laude, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Toigo Fellow. Debra has responsibilities on multiple boards and advisory groups, including the Board of Governors of the San Francisco Symphony. She is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Debra was raised in San Jose, California.
