Postgraduate in Business Management; Diploma in Project Management, DSE, Berlin; graduate degree in Law, Nagpur University. Started political career in the mid-nineties as Mayor of Nagpur Metropolitan City; re-elected as the first Mayor in Council, State of Maharashtra. Since 1999, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State, from Nagpur. As a major leader of opposition over last decade, raised in depth policy issues which led to improved governance. As President, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), led party to victory in 2014 elections and became Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Vision for Maharashtra is focused on clean and good governance, expansion of state infrastructure, 24/7 electric power to farmers and industry, 100% rural connectivity, and increasing ease of doing business in Maharashtra. Has launched a programme of wise conservation of water, recharging depleted aquifers to mitigate climate change and recurring drought. Secretary, Global Parliamentarians on Habitat. Recipient: Best Parliamentarian Award, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
