Country Director and Chief Representative, Ford Foundation (China)

1979-82, studied Chinese, Middlebury, including six months in Taiwan in 1981; MA in Chinese Studies, University of Michigan. Spent ten years at the National Committee on US-China Relations. 1998, first moved to China to be the American Co-Director, Hopkins-Nanjing Center. Then spent 11 years in the private sector as President, Pearson Education; Chief Representative, Pearson Group; and Managing Director, Kamsky Associates. Sits on several not-for-profit boards, including the Institute for Sustainable Communities and the National Committee on US-China Relations. Currently, Country Director, China, Ford Foundation, overseeing grant-making and operations.
