Frank Terhorst

Executive Vice-President, Strategy and Portfolio Management, Bayer

Frank Terhorst serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and as Head of Crop Strategy & Portfolio Management for the Crop Science division of Bayer. Based in St. Louis, MO (USA), he leads efforts to drive a long-term strategy that builds value for farmers worldwide.

Terhorst has worked at Bayer for over 25 years in the agriculture industry, bringing deep experience in crop strategy, crop protection, seeds and traits, strategic business initiatives, business modeling, mergers and acquisitions, licensing and lifecycle crop management. After beginning his career in crop protection in Germany, Terhorst held various positions in global portfolio management, marketing and controlling, as well as Managing Director/Country Head roles based in the Netherlands and Italy. In 2011, he served as Head of Strategy for Fruits and Vegetables and Insecticides in Germany before becoming Global Head of Seeds. In addition to his responsibilities leading Seeds, Terhorst was most recently responsible for Pre-Merger Planning, which paved the way for Bayer’s successful acquisition of Monsanto.

Terhorst is married with one son. He enjoys running, diving, golf and traveling. Terhorst speaks five languages: German, English, Italian, Dutch and Spanish.
