Graham Carney is a Chicago Hub member and venture capital investor with GGV, a $6.2 billion VC fund with investments including Airbnb, Alibaba, ByteDance (TikTok), Didi Chuxing, Grab, HashiCorp, Lime, Opendoor, Peleton, Slack, Square, Wish, Xiaomi, and more. Before joining GGV, he was a VC investor with Contrary Capital, a VC fund backed by founding members of Facebook, Tesla, Reddit, SoFi, and other leading technology companies. Previously, he was a VC investor at 37 Angels, a venture firm in New York City, where he led diligence on deals across the enterprise, consumer, logistics, and healthcare sectors.
Prior to his roles in venture investing, Mr. Carney was an early employee at Dataminr, a $1.6 billion AI/machine learning startup that has raised over $570 million in VC funding and employs 600+ people. Before joining Dataminr, he worked in the alpha strategies group at BlackRock, where he led the go-to-market strategy for an impact investment product that now manages over $200 billion in assets. Mr. Carney began his career at Goldman Sachs. He received his BA from Columbia University and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
