Harald Link

Chairman & President, B. Grimm & Co

Harald Link is the Link family’s third-generation
chairman of B.Grimm, established in 1878 in
Thailand, a multinational conglomerate with
businesses across energy, building and industrial
systems, healthcare, transportation, lifestyle, real
estate, digital and capital partners. He has been at the
helm of B.Grimm for over 30 years. Under his
leadership, B.Grimm evolved, forming joint ventures
with world leading corporations such as Babcock,
Carl Zeiss, Carrier, Hamon, KSB, Siemens, Sumitomo
Corp and a great number of Asian companies such as
Amata Corporation, Bangkadi, CP Group, Sena
Development and WHA Corp.
It was not until the 1990s when Harald Link ventured
into the energy sector with its investment arm,
B.Grimm Power. It grew from the first greenfield
industrial power plant in Amata City in Chonburi to
one of Thailand’s key power players.
B.Grimm Power, with Dr. Link as President, plans to ramp up its current generation capacity
of over 3,000 megawatts to over 7,000 megawatts by 2025. It is also ready to start a new
business by selling electricity directly to real estate developers, including mixed-used
building owners, under a captive independent power supply (IPS) model, where companies
are allowed to produce and sell electricity on private properties owned by its customers.
Dr. Link, nevertheless, is focused on the long-term goal of renewable energy with B.Grimm
Power will be carbon-neutral by 2050. The company is pushing for energy transition ranging
from decarbonisation and smart grids to natural gas and hydrogen production. The firm has
obtained the first commercial green bond in Thailand and the first green project finance in
CLMVT countries for a solar plant in Vietnam.
B.Grimm Power has already produced a lot of renewable electricity in many different
countries. The firm is active in Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, and
Thailand; has started the first project in Indonesia; in discussions with Myanmar and
Malaysia. In all likelihood, by the end of 2021, B.Grimm Power will probably be in nearly all
ASEAN countries and several outside ASEAN.
As all his forefathers, Dr. Link actively engages in various social programmes important to
society. Interests close to his heart are education, environment, sports, music and arts. For
environment, he plays a leading role in supporting WWF-Thailand’s ambitious “Save the
Tigers” conservation programme in Thailand.
Dr. Harald Link married Princess Assunta von Liechtenstein in 1981. They have two children,
Caroline and Felix Link. Both are working in B.Grimm with Caroline to be the successor for
energy, industrial and healthcare businesses and Felix for the real estate side.
