Managing Director and Head, China Fundamental Equities, BlackRock

Studied electrical engineering and computer science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Held positions in private investing for a corporation and in investment banking at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in Hong Kong and New York. Five years with ABN AMRO, latterly as sector head of the Asian telecom research team. Formerly Goldman Sachs’ Business Unit leader for the Asia Telecom/Internet sector research team and Head of Asia telecom research, then with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong, latterly as Chief China Strategist, focused on setting market views for China equities across A and H shares, identifying key China investment themes, and communicating both macro and sector views in a variety of mediums to the firm’s institutional clients. Currently, Managing Director, Head of China Equities for BlackRock’s Fundamental Equities (active investment management) group. Responsibilities include managing China equities investment portfolios, overseeing the China research team in idea generation for China-related investments across sectors and products, as well as developing the China equities active investing business offshore and onshore in cooperation with other parts of the firm.
