Jairo is a software developer, data scientist, and serial entrepreneur with more than 14 years of experience running startups in the Agtech sector, using the power of AI to build a smarter, more sustainable food system.
Six years ago he co-founder Kilimo, a Social enterprise that uses Data Science and Machine learning to provide automated irrigation advice, to help farmers get better crops with less water. This year Kilimo will be providing services in 6 countries, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, The US, Brazil and Argentina, where 10% of the total irrigated area in the country is being managed by the company's software, saving up to 30 billion litres of water. He is also leading two initiatives in the non-profit sector, with a group of local developers and journalists, he co-founded OpenData Córdoba, an NGO that works in government transparency and democratic strengthening by proposing opendata policies; and, for four years in a row, he has been organizing "The Hack(at)ONG", and event where a group of software developers create software and hardware solutions for a local NGO's.
