He is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alicante and founder of Rive Technology, a successful spin-off from MIT that developed and commercialized novel nanostructured zeolite catalysts to improve energy efficiency in the chemical industry—technology now implemented worldwide after the company’s acquisition by W. R. Grace.
With deep expertise in catalysis, nanotechnology, and innovation management, Javier has advised governments, international organizations, and companies on energy transition and sustainability. He served as President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), where he led initiatives promoting green chemistry, education, and diversity in science.
