Joelle Gamble Copeland

Chief Economist, General Motors

Joelle Gamble Copeland serves as Chief Economist for General Motors. In this role, Joelle leads global economic and industry insights in support of key enterprise initiatives such as strategic scenario planning, forecasting, and public policy.

Prior to joining GM, Joelle was a Deputy Director at the White House National Economic Council, where she was a critical member of the team that developed the administration’s manufacturing, labor and supply chain agenda. Prior to that role, she was Chief Economist of the U.S. Department of Labor. She has also held leadership roles at the Roosevelt Institute, and was Principal at philanthropic organization, Omidyar Network.

Joelle has degrees from UCLA and Princeton University. She lives in D.C. with her husband and two pets.
