John Asafu-Adjaye

Head of Research and Senior Fellow, African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET)

Dr. John Asafu-Adjaye is a senior fellow and head of research at the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET). Prior to that he held a tenured position as an associate professor of economics at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He also held a position as visiting senior fellow at the Institute of Economic Affairs, Ghana, from 2006 to 2018.

At ACET John’s leads the implementation of the research program. He also assists with providing advice to African policy makers and economic actors to help prosecute the transformation agenda. He has an extensive track record in research and consultancy on environmental and economic development issues in a variety of countries including Ghana, Australia, Indonesia, Fiji, Vietnam, China, Papua New Guinea and Brunei Darussalam.

John holds a PhD in natural resource economics from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada; an MSc in operations research from the University of Aston, Birmingham, UK and a BSc in agricultural economics from the University of Ghana, Legon.
