Juan Carlos Gonzalez was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Colombia to the WTO and WIPO between 2016 and 2019. During his tenure as Ambassador he chaired the WTO´s Trade Policy Review Body and the Structured Discussions on Investment Faciliation for Development. Prior to that, he was President (Acting) and Foreign Investment Vice-President at ProColombia, the nation's entity for the promotion of foreign direct investment (FDI), exports and international tourism. A former Fulbright scholar, he has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes (Bogota), a Master of Arts in international studies from the University of Washington (Seattle) and an M.B.A. from the Melbourne Business School in Australia.
