Director, Silverback Films

Co-founded Silverback Films in 2012. Has been making award-winning and world-class wildlife films for over 30 years. Degree and PhD in Zoology, Bristol University. 1982, Wildlife Stills Photographer; also began working with the BBC Natural History Unit as Researcher; subsequently became a producer making many films for the “Natural World” and “Wildlife on One” series, and Sir David Attenborough’s landmark award winning “The Private Life of Plants”. 1993, Editor, “Wildlife on One” and created series such as the “Wildlife Specials” and “Big Cat Diary”. 1998, Head, Natural History Unit and Editor-in-Chief. 2002, BBC Controller of Specialist Factual Production, responsible for BBC Natural History, Science, History, Arts, Business and Religious in-house productions. 2006, Controller of Factual Production. Then Deputy Chief Creative Officer, Vision Productions. 2008, returned to making wildlife films. Directed the Disneynat ure films “African Cats” and “Blue”, and was joint Director of Disneynature’s “Bears”. For television, Executive Producer of Discovery’s major wildlife landmark series “North America” and Animal Planet/Discovery International series “Deadly Islands”. Awards include EMMYS, BAFTAs, RTS”s, Wildscreen Pandas and Jackson Hole Awards.
