Kennedy Njoroge

Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Cellulant

Ken Njoroge defies convention on what what it takes to succeed in Africa. A mobile commerce evangelist and career entrepreneur, Ken Njoroge, is someone for whom vision remains front and centre of everything the Cellulant does, even 15 years after starting the business. In fact, he and Bolaji Akinboro, his Nigerian partner and Co-CEO, decided on a goal before they were even a hundred percent certain of the type of business through which it would be accomplished.

As Cellulant’s founding CEO, Ken has led the company from an idea sketched on a serviette in 2002, to a reputable company in Africa with more than 350 employees across 13 markets. Ken remains unwavering in his pursuit of seeing Cellulant achieve its mission of connecting more than 500 million consumers across Africa with digital payment services that are relevant to their daily lives.

Ken and Bolaji have build a business whose strategy integrates community impact within the very fiber of everyday operations. Over the past couple of years, Ken has invested time in training and advising the next generation of entrepreneurs, and contributing to the growth of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Africa. In recognition of this, in 2017, Ken was selected as the first Sub-Saharan and Kenya
