Lourdes Melgar is a corporate board member on CEMEX, Smurfit Westrock, and Banco Santander Mexico boards. She holds advisory positions with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, the Natural Resource Governance Institute, Chapter Zero Mexico, and the Board of Trustees of Mount Holyoke College. With extensive policy experience as the former Vice Minister for Electricity and former Vice Minister for Hydrocarbons of Mexico, Dr. Melgar focuses her academic work on accelerating the transformation of energy systems. She is a Research Affiliate at MIT and a Fellow at the Baker Institute. Recognized for her contributions to sustainable energy initiatives, she played a key role in designing, negotiating, and implementing Mexico’s 2013 Energy Reform. Dr. Melgar actively champions women's participation in leadership roles. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum, chaired its Mexican Chapter, and is a co-founder of Voz Experta. She holds a Ph.D. from MIT.
