Malek Sukkar is Chief Executive Officer of Averda, the leading provider of waste management services to emerging markets. For over 35 years, Averda has been continuously improving living and working environments for millions of people by providing effective and transformative city cleaning and waste management services. Averda holds its corporate headquarters in Dubai & London, regional offices in Johannesburg, Delhi, Casablanca & Riyadh and operates in 8 countries across the Middle East, Asia & Africa.

Malek holds a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University, USA. He began his career in London with high-tech production machinery manufacturer Complete Process and in 1994 joined family-owned firm, Sukkar Engineering Group, a firm that ran subsidiaries for construction, machine manufacturing and waste management & treatment. After 8 years as the Vice-President of Services and building a platform for rapid growth, Sukkar Engineering was re-organised under the Averda brand and Malek was appointed CEO. In 2008, the company won its first contract in the Gulf region and today, Averda has more than 15,000 employees and covers operations that span across 3 continents.

Malek is a trustee of Boston University, member of the Board for GrowthGate Capital and an avid art collector, supporting and sponsoring gifted artists & initiatives around the world.
