German journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Deutsche Welle (DW). DW is Germany's international broadcaster and reaches millions of viewers worldwide. Studied Economics and Sociology, graduated in 1984. Worked as News producer for RIAS-TV; covered Germany’s Reunification, Central and Eastern European affairs; reported from Washington DC. In 1998, Head of DW-TV’s Business Department. Since 2001, also responsible for DW-TV’s Science Department. 2009, started Global Ideas, an award winning multimedia-based climate project for DW which is available in 5 different languages. Since 2014, Head of DW / Deutsche Welle’s “Business & Science” department. Has regularly participated in the World Economic Forum in Davos, initiated partnerships with the World Economic Forum and the Schwab Foundation. Member of the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce's (DIHK) committee on media and communication. Member of the Board of trustees of Germany’s Ifo institute; Member of the Advisory Board of TecTV, the webbased TV, by the Association of German Engineers (VDI).
